Amina
Shares in Amina are now sold out.
A beautifully-bred, scopey and athletic four year old standing at an imposing 16’2, Amina is by the top-class sire Zarak, and is in training with Cheltenham Festival-winning trainer John McConnell.
Zarak’s stud fee has leapt from €12,000 to €60,000 in the space of just two seasons, as his stats are off the charts. Europe’s leading sire by winners to runners (68%), he has an incredible 11% stakes winners to runners and these have come from the mares he was covering at €12,000!
It’s not just on the flat that his progeny are excelling…he looks one of the most exciting flat sires of National Hunt performers that we have seen in some time, with his progeny including Galway Hurdle winner (and Grade 1 runner-up) Zarak The Brave, Grade 1 runner-up Bo Zenith and several other very talented sorts.
BLACK-TYPE THROUGHOUT THE FAMILY…!
It’s not just Zarak getting us excited. Amina is a half-sister to Harry Fry’s high-class novice hurdler Altobelli, who recorded a Racing Post Rating of 140 on his second start over hurdles (having also won both previous outings in a bumper and a hurdle) and finished runner-up on his first start this season in a £60,000 handicap hurdle at Ascot. The half-sister was a three-time winner on the flat in France and has since scored at Leopardstown from her three runs in Ireland this summer (now in foal).
The dam is a half-sister to now fewer than four black-type performers in Germany, including recent Listed winner Ability and German Derby fourth Areo, so it’s a family absolutely packed with talent.

John McConnell
A qualified vet, John had always held aspirations to become a trainer and has made great strides since training his first winner back in 2005.
With over 350 winners since then, John continues to go from strength to strength, finishing seventh in the Irish National Hunt Trainers’ Championship in 2022/23.
His strike-rate in Britain is a hugely impressive 52-218 (up to May 2023), and notable winners in recent months included successes at the Cheltenham Festival, Punchestown Festival and Aintree Grand National meeting.
We are really excited to have our first horses with John for the 2023-24 campaign, with two gorgeous fillies in Amina and Innatendue.
