Something Fabulous

It’s taken us the best part of five years to finally acquire a recruit from the Irish pointing field! However, we’re so excited about the prospects of this one and she looks a potentially high-class addition to the Pimlico team.
Her name is Something Fabulous. A five year old, she was a close second in a 16-runner maiden just a fortnight ago, where she was very much the one to take from the race.
She has an exceptional pedigree, being out of a full sister to Grade 1 performer McFabulous, and half-sister to Grade 1 Ascot Chase winner Waiting Patiently. Furthermore, she is bred on the Getaway-Milan cross that has produced several black-type mares over jumps.
John McConnell was desperately keen to get Something Fabulous in the yard, so much so he has taken a leg in her. John has sourced many of his best horses from Irish points, including Mahler Mission (Grade 2 winner), Moon D’Orange (Grade 3 Cheltenham winner) and Go Another One (Grade 3 winner), all of which were placed on their only starts between the flags.
We’d love you to get involved in our latest syndicate, with a mare we’re hoping can take us to the big days in the season ahead and beyond – and you won’t have to wait long for action, as John already has Galway in mind for her this summer!
THE PLAN
John is keen to get her on the track and winning a bumper in the next 4-6 weeks. The hope is we can then get her to the Galway Festival for the mares bumper and, if all goes to plan, we could look at the bumper at Cheltenham’s October meeting.
Looking further ahead, she has all the attributes to make up into a black-type performer over hurdles and fences in time!

John McConnell
A qualified vet, John had always held aspirations to become a trainer and has made great strides since training his first winner back in 2005.
With over 400 winners since then, John continues to go from strength to strength, finishing seventh in the Irish National Hunt Trainers’ Championship in 2022/23.
His strike-rate in Britain is hugely impressive and notable winners include successes at the Cheltenham Festival, Punchestown Festival and Aintree Grand National meeting.
We are really excited to have the beautiful Amina in training with John in 2025.
