Miakoda off the mark at Newcastle

 In Pimlico Racing Blog

Miakoda has needed time to find his feet since joining James Owen, but the three year old son of Blue Point made no mistake at Newcastle yesterday, winning in the style of a well-handicapped horse.

Despite being drawn widest of all, he was quickly into stride and Kieran Shoemark was able to bring him all the way across to the stands rail.  Dictating a sensible pace in front, Miakoda was strongly challenged in the final couple of furlongs, but kept on very gamely and was stretching clear again at the line.

There should be plenty more to come, now that he has got his head in front. 7f looks to be his trip and we will try and find a similar opportunity for him in a fortnight’s time, either on the AW or switching to turf.

Congratulations to all involved!
