Churchwarden bolts up in Tramore Derby

Churchwarden provided his owners with a memorable win yesterday, scoring in great style in the Tramore Derby!

The six year old had finished unplaced on his first two starts in the Pimlico colours, but he had been in good form at home and, with first-time blinkers applied, he made most of the running under Gary Carroll, pulling clear to win by 10 lengths!

Churchwarden’s success provided us with a second win in the race from as many attempts, having won the inaugural running in 2023 with Zoffany Bay…and we’ll certainly be trying to find another one to win the race next year!

Looking ahead, Churchwarden could well have more to offer under both codes and we’ll likely head to Galway with him now, with options both on the flat and over hurdles. Congratulations to all involved on yesterday’s winner and fingers crossed for an exciting season ahead!

Nathaniel has a wealth of experience in the industry, having worked as a form advisor for Andrew Balding, as researcher for racing presenter Clare Balding and as assistant trainer to Tim Vaughan, prior to setting up as a bloodstock agent in 2013. He has bought the winners of over 400 races to date, including 2022 Coral Gold Cup (Hennessy) winner Le Milos. Nathaniel’s recent winners include successes in 2025 on Arc weekend at ParisLongchamp, on French Gold Cup day and in Listed company at Auteuil. As well as Pimlico Racing, Nathaniel also runs the Kingsclere Racing Club for the Balding family and is racing manager in France for Sangwin Bloodstock.
