Own a Horse with Joseph O'Brien
Pimlico Racing gives you the chance to own a share in a racehorse trained by Joseph O’Brien at Carriganóg Racing, his renowned Owning Hill base near Piltown in County Kilkenny.
One of the outstanding trainers of his generation, Joseph has already achieved remarkable success on some of racing’s biggest stages around the world. For Pimlico Racing owners, having a horse with Joseph offers a fascinating insight into the workings of one of Ireland’s leading racing operations, while giving their horse every chance to fulfil its potential on the racecourse.
Why We Choose Joseph O'Brien
Joseph O’Brien has achieved an extraordinary amount in racing at a remarkably young age. A brilliant jockey who twice became Irish Champion and rode around 30 Group 1 winners, he has made an equally impressive transition to training, building a powerful dual-purpose operation with top-level success on the Flat and over jumps.
His international record is particularly impressive. Joseph became the youngest trainer ever to win the Melbourne Cup when Rekindling triumphed in 2017 and won the race again with Twilight Payment in 2020. In 2026, he added another British Classic when Highwayman led home a one-two for the yard in the St Leger at Doncaster – a remarkable result with a horse who had been led out unsold for just €19,000 earlier in his career.
That ability to develop horses and significantly outperform expectations is one of the qualities we value most. Joseph has shown repeatedly that success at the highest level isn’t restricted to horses bought for enormous sums, while the scale and strength of his operation gives our owners the chance to experience life inside one of Ireland’s most exciting racing yards.
