Innatendue
UPDATE: Shares now sold out
A Grade 3 bumper winner. Grade 2-placed over hurdles…and still a novice! Introducing our latest recruit, Cheltenham Festival Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle prospect Innatendue.
A really classy-looking and athletic individual, this five year old mare won two of her four starts in bumpers in France, the second of them a Grade 3 contest at Durtal in October 2021.
She was runner-up in the Listed Scottish Triumph Hurdle on her first start for John McConnell in February 2022, and went on to finish runner-up in the Grade 2 Juvenile Hurdle at Fairyhouse last April, finishing one place in front of the now 145-rated Grade 3 winner Icare Allen.
Her third and second on her final two starts for John last autumn came behind Spillane’s Tower (RPR142) and Imagine (RPR139) at Wexford, and then No Looking Back (RPR148, Grade 2 winner next time) at Thurles.
The form figures since switching to Tony Martin don’t tell the whole story – she was badly hampered when cantering in a €100,000 handicap hurdle at the Dublin Racing Festival in February, and her fifth next time came in a hot maiden contest that has worked out really well.
She has since been given a wind op and vetted really well – her scope was really good and hopefully the wind op is just another added bonus for us going forward.
John is delighted to have the chance to train her again – he felt she was a Cheltenham Festival Mares’ Hurdle contender when he had her previously and sees no reason why that shouldn’t be the aim for her in the season ahead! With the experience that she has under her belt, she really could be challenging for Graded honours this term.

John McConnell
A qualified vet, John had always held aspirations to become a trainer and has made great strides since training his first winner back in 2005.
With over 350 winners since then, John continues to go from strength to strength, finishing seventh in the Irish National Hunt Trainers’ Championship in 2022/23.
His strike-rate in Britain is a hugely impressive 52-218 (up to May 2023), and notable winners in recent months included successes at the Cheltenham Festival, Punchestown Festival and Aintree Grand National meeting.
We are really excited to have our first horses with John for the 2023-24 campaign, with two gorgeous fillies in Amina and Innatendue.
