Looking forward to the year ahead!

 In Pimlico Racing Blog

We’re thrilled with the team of horses to race in the Pimlico colours for 2025 and there’s so much to look forward to on the racecourse in the year ahead for our syndicate members.

Galway Festival bumper third Amina is very well-regarded by her trainer John McConnell and is due to return to the racecourse in the spring, with the hope of winning a bumper and then heading to the Punchestown Festival.

Becasse has another Festival as his aim, with the French recruit on target to run in the Fred Winter handicap hurdle at Cheltenham in March!  A winner at Fontainebleau in October, he is now in training with Henry de Bromhead.

Last year’s triple winner Chutzpal will be back for more in 2025, and the versatile dual-purpose performer may even have a try over fences in the summer, as well as bidding for further success on the flat and over hurdles.

Collanisi, a fine third on his bumper debut at Ffos Las in November, has had the winter off but is being prepared for a return to the track in the spring – trainer Ben Pauling is confident he can win a bumper next time and feels he is a very smart prospect to to jumping next term.

New recruit Dschingis Dragon is in pre-training at present and before going to Henry de Bromhead in the spring.  I thought she was absolutely exceptional value, as she boasts an outstanding pedigree, smart form in the book on the flat and a pedigree and physique that screams ‘jumper’…time will tell!  We couldn’t be happier with her and she is highly recommended.

I Am Mimi showed considerable promise on his bumper debut last year, but was probably just a little weak to show his best form over hurdles, despite placing on his last two starts.  He has had a good break since and has done well physically, so we look forward to seeing what he can do when he returns this spring.

Innatendue, a Graded bumper winner in France and placed at Grade 2 level over hurdles, remains a maiden…but we hope that doesn’t remain the case much longer!  She is now at Henry de Bromhead’s and is moving well in advance of her racecourse return.  All being well, we’ll look to win her maiden hurdle before going on to better things, and if she can get her head in front I am sure it will do her confidence the world of good.

Miakoda is taking a bit of working out, but he is in excellent hands with James Owen and there’s a chance we’ve not been getting his trip quite right.  He’ll step up to 7f next time and when things click, he has the look of a very well-handicapped horse for the season ahead.

North Moon‘s owners have had to be very patient, as an intended debut at the Galway Festival was shelved and he has had a few little niggles since then that have delayed his eagerly-awaited first run.  He is due back at Closutton just after Cheltenham and hopefully he’ll make up for lost time when he starts out in a bumper in late spring.

Stardhem has looked a winner-in-waiting in recent starts over hurdles, but it won’t be long at all before he goes chasing and that could even be on his next start, in February.  A late-maturing type, he is on a very good mark and should be winning plenty of races in the coming year.

Zurich is a cracking chasing prospect and ran a big race on his debut for us over fences in December, before finding a muddling gallop in a race with several fences omitted against him next time.  We’ll work towards the Listed novice handicap chase at Fairyhouse’s Irish Grand National meeting, with the likelihood of two runs before that.

We welcome Paddy Twomey to the Pimlico Racing roster of trainers for 2025 and he has given us a couple of very positive updates on our unnamed Havana Grey filly.  She looks a real two-year-old type and we’re hoping she can make her debut in the spring.  She is qualified for the valuable Great British Bonus races and it may well be that we try and come over to the UK with her at some point, with the bonuses worth up to £20,000 per race.
