Amina

Posted December 5, 2023

A beautifully-bred, scopey and athletic six year old standing at an imposing 16’2, Amina is by the top-class sire Zarak, and is in training with Cheltenham Festival-winning trainer John McConnell.

Amina’s bumper form last season could not have worked out any better, as she has been surrounded by subsequent winners, several of which have gone on to get black type over hurdles.

Third on her debut over hurdles this summer, she was a ready winner of her maiden hurdle on just her second start over jumps, at Ballinrobe in late August. She is likely to have her next run in a novice hurdle in the UK, with a view to qualifying for one of the valuable mares’ finals in the spring. Looking further ahead, she looks every inch a chaser in the making and hopefully she has a very exciting career ahead!

7.5% has become available in Amina! If you’re interested in taking a share in this winning mare then please get in touch with either Tom or Nathaniel, or you can reserve your share through the website.

John McConnell

A qualified vet, John had always held aspirations to become a trainer and has made great strides since training his first winner back in 2005.

With over 400 winners since then, John continues to go from strength to strength, finishing seventh in the Irish National Hunt Trainers’ Championship.

His strike-rate in Britain is hugely impressive and notable winners include successes at the Cheltenham Festival, Punchestown Festival and Aintree Grand National meeting.

We are really excited to have the beautiful fillies Amina and Something Fabulous in training with John in 2025.
