Chutzpal has been an absolute star for his syndicate owners since we purchased him cheaply 18 months ago, winning three times in 2024, taking us to Cheltenham last autumn and returning with some fine efforts in defeat in highly-competitive handicaps in recent weeks.
Into Premier Handicap company for the first time yesterday, he produced a career-best performance to land the €45,000 contest under a fine front-running ride by Wayne Hassett, who got the fractions spot on in front and kept enough in reserve to repel the persistent challenge of the eventual runner-up.
Chutzpal continues to improve at the age of six and, while we will certainly look to see if there is another big handicap for him off a low weight, he is attractively-handicapped over hurdles and attentions are likely to switch that way sooner rather than later!
