Julius

Julius
2024 grey colt by Beaumec de Houelle (FR) ex Larabelle (FR) (Linda's Lad (GB)
I was busy at the Arqana Sales last week and was delighted to purchase Julius, a striking yearling son of one of the leading young French NH sires, Beaumec de Houelle.
Julius is a half-sister to none other than Alicious, our three year old in training to go into training with Willie Mullins. She is held in high regard and, when this sibling came up for sale and upon seeing him as a physical, we were very keen to add him to the Pimlico team!
INTRODUCING JULIUS
A sixth foal, Julius is a half-brother to our very own Alicious, as mentioned above. Their half-brother, Magic Flight, was on the track as an early three year old and has gained black type over hurdles at both Auteuil and Compiegne in the past two seasons, as well as scoring over fences earlier this year, beating recent Auteuil Listed winner Kilt Ecossais (since sold for €260,000).
His only half-sister was the smart West Coast, who won two useful juvenile hurdles, earning a rating of 135 as a three year old! Dam Larabelle was also a very useful performer, finishing third at Grade 3 and Listed level around Auteuil.
It is a family packed with class, and there are lot of precocious performers in the pedigree. These include Paranthese (runner-up in the prestigious Listed Wild Monarch hurdle at Auteuil) and Invitation Only, who won one of the first 4yo points of the season in Ireland and went on to become a Grade 1 performer.
Beaumec de Houelle was an outstanding juvenile hurdler, winning two of the top early-season hurdles for three year olds at Auteuil, before completing the autumn trio of the Listed Robert Lejeune, Group 2 Georges de Talhouet-Roy and finally the Championship Grade 1 for three year olds, the Prix Cambaceres.
A son of the brilliant sire Martaline, he has made an instant impact with his first few crops, which include numerous Graded performers and some high-class novice prospects in training in Ireland and the UK.
THE PLAN
Julius will be out in the day enjoying time in the paddocks, and in at night for the next few months and we’ll give him time to develop, before getting him broken in sometime in late spring/early summer.
He will then have a little break before returning to training, and will be working towards having him ready to go in the first Academy Hurdle of the season in 2027…and hopefully Cheltenham 2028!
This is a really exciting project with such a lovely individual and we’re delighted to offer shares for sale.
