A strong, correct and athletic-moving six-year-old mare, Cottie has a really good level of form in the book in bumpers and is a high-class prospect to go hurdling next season.
She made her debut at the Galway Festival last July and ran a fine race in defeat, just finding one too good, a Willie Mullins-trained mare that has since won both starts over hurdles, the latest of them a Grade 3 contest!
Beaten just a head on her next outing (she was subsequently disqualified, as her rider didn’t hold a valid licence), she went on to finish fifth of 13 in a Listed bumper at Gowran Park in October, travelling noticeably well through the race, but just keeping on at one pace through the race. Her trainer felt she just got bogged down in the ground on her latest outing, after which she had a short break, but she has been back in training for the past six weeks.
With Tom Taaffe having handed in his training licence, she looked an ideal candidate for us to take on and with her experience in bumpers and the strong level of ability she has already shown, she really is a very exciting prospect.
Shares in Cottie have now sold out.
We have already had plenty of interest registered for our next syndicate with Henry de Bromhead and shares are likely to sell relatively quickly. If you are interested in further information or if you would like to go ahead with a share, please contact Nathaniel or Tom.

Having started training at the turn of the millennium, Henry rapidly established himself as a leading force in the National Hunt ranks in Ireland and two decades on, the list of races that have gone the way of the County Waterford-based handler is hugely impressive.
A record-breaking Cheltenham Festival, during which Henry had six winners that included the Champion Hurdle, Champion Chase and Gold Cup, was swiftly followed by a famous 1-2 in the Grand National, providing further evidence of a yard that continues at the very top of its game.
We couldn’t be more excited to have seven horses in training (Alice Avril, Baron Wild, Coole Arcade, Cottie, Makfils, Schone Aussicht and our unnamed Sageburg filly) with Henry for 2021/22.
